The path is glazed with ice
so very lustrous and sublime
and a thousand winters have gone by
this passage stands beneath the skies

as if a power so divine
has scorched the very ground
with a holy blazing light
beneath the stars and opaque night

A long time in the past
my soul to roam was cast
and since that rueful day
I’ve sought to find my way

But the journey took its toll
and now my guideless soul
desperate, craving, torrid, mauled
is set to wander in the cold

But the bleak eternal night
unveils the horrid truth
my soul shall take no flight
to a trap it has been lured

The path I’ve followed now
vanished underneath my feet
this curse so vile so foul
